UNIQUE FEATURES
- The original batteries consisted of two 6-volt batteries arranged in line, located behind the seats under a carpet and a steel plate (which was most inconvenient). The battery has now been relocated to the trunk, housed in a plastic battery box.
- There is a kill switch behind the passenger seat. There are two red keys for it. It’s in line with the negative ground. This stops all power to the car.
- The car radio is connected to a separate battery located behind the driver’s seat and can be charged by accessing the trunk. Behind the driver’s seat is a small black hinged box with a red and black terminal inside. Connect a battery charger to the black/ground and red/positive. This only runs the radio. When a kill switch is used, it would cancel all saved settings on the radio. The radio is turned on by the small red switch on the right side of the center teak console.
- The left-hand switch on the teak council is for the fog light. The wires were disconnected after an electrical problem. They are marked with the label (FOG).
SAFETY
The car is not safetied, however, it was checked by a mechanic, and these are the items that have to be fixed:
- Replace muffler (which was done).
- Reseal the oil pan.
- Replace the front left rear leaf spring spacer.
- Check the driver’s side front brake — possibly needs adjusting.
THE MAIN ISSUE WITH THE CAR IS
A brown heavy-gauge unfused wire went to ground behind the dashboard and the teak console. The beginning and end of the burnt wire are visible behind the vertical part of the teak console and the bottom black cover under the right-hand dash. The connections are marked with red shrink wrap.
The wire burned very hot and likely burned insulation between other wires in the wiring harness. No fuses blew, so it may be that the only wires that need replacing are those under the blue wire wrap between the brown wire terminals.
